7th Annual Deputy Pat Healey Poker Run

By Ron Cox

One hundred thirty riders and passengers registered at Harley-Davidson of Ft. Myers on April 17th for the 7th Annual Deputy Pat Healey Poker Run hosted by the Lee County Chapter of the Defenders M/C.

The Defenders is a social club comprised of active and retired law enforcement officers who share a common interest motorcycle riding and travel. The annual charity poker run is named for the Lee County Deputy who died in the line of duty in 2004. In Deputy Healey’s honor, his friends and coworkers organized this ride.

The five stop poker run took riders through scenic areas of Lee County, winding for approximately 55 miles through Estero, South Ft. Myers, Ft. Myers Beach and North Ft. Myers. The ride ended at a major sponsor, Arizona Pizza.

Ryan Justham won the Best Hand prize with four 7’s backed by an ace. The prize was a $250 Gift Card donated by H-D of Ft. Myers.

The run raised $6,000 and will be donated to the Fallen Heroes Memorial Fund, a fund that provides financial relief for first responders and/or family members. The defenders motto is “A Brotherhood of One” and this run typifies that motto.
