I love Mardi Gras! Having lived most of my adult life in Pensacola, only 3 hours from New Orleans, I have spent many a night in full Mardi Party attitude, either in New Orleans, Mobile or even in Pensacola Beach. In Pensacola I was a masked participant on a float and we were the Krewe of the Silver Slipper. Great fun!!!

We attend events all over the state and few surprise me anymore, but I must admit the Mardi Gras Leesburg threw was fantastic! They close downtown down just like during Leesburg Bikefest and bring in floats, stilt walkers, jugglers, carnival rides, bands including the great sounds of Bobby Blackmon and Greg Billings. They bill it as “12 Hours of Madness” and I really was pleasantly surprised at how much fun we had. The weather was fabulous and the smells of all the food vendors made it seem like we were at a real carnival.

Bikers start your engines! Leesburg Bikefest is April 27th-29th and Greg Billings will be having a Lake County release party for his new CD during the event this year. Our Thunder Rider Members party during Leesburg Bikefest will be at The Club Palace so get your friends to sign up and look for your invite via email for date and time. And put the Mardi Gras event on your next year’s Not to Miss List!!! I am!!!
