Another Biketoberfest is upon on us. For those of you traveling to our home ride safely. Remember that the police are pretty stringent about things such as handlebar height, loud pipes and wearing your glasses. Being pulled over for a traffic stop and ending up with a DUI can suck so watch your speed and limit your alcohol consumption. Also WATCH FOR DEER they are everywhere, even in neighborhoods.

I have three friends that have started businesses and if you get a chance to look them up while in town I would love it:

First Rick owner of First Turn has opened Grumpy’s in Port Orange on US 1, the perfect place to stop and cool your pipes when traveling down to visit First Turn or Hidden Treasures!!!

Ken Gardner who most of you know from BON sent me this:

Flash!!!! Are you looking to get your ride lit up? There is a new company in central Florida to fill all your needs. Custom Lighting Efx LLC can assist you with any lighting, LEDs, HIDs, signal lighting, or just about any custom applications you can think of! You can find us on Facebook, coming to a location near you!!!

And my good friend Tina and her friend Pat have a new company “Strap-Blings” and will be at the White Eagle during Biketoberfest. Their website is WWW.STRAPBLINGS.COM, so check them out!

We just got back from an exhausting ride to Key West, but other than a bit of rain, it was a good trip without incident. I am not a helmet wearer on a regular basis, but I was happy we had ours on this trip. It certainly makes riding in the rain and strong sun more tolerable for long distances. I stopped in to check on the pilot whale #300 (see Pony Tales Sept. 2011) on our trip through Key Largo and was pleased to find out she had recovered and was moved to Sea World. Since she spent so much time in the hands of humans she wasn’t deemed “wild” enough to return to the sea, but at least she is with others of her kind and can teach humans about her species.

Check out my friends’ new enterprises, buy a stranger a round and don’t forget your sunscreen!
