County by County Riding Florida…Putnam

Home of the St. John’s River Blues Festival By Lulu As I was heading west on 100 out of Bunnell in search of the Putnam County line I was surprised to see a highway marker that read “Welcome to Bike Friendly Putnam County”. This is a great weekend destination for those of you who enjoy riding open country roads. And no better weekend to do that than Nov. 11-13th during their Annual St. Johns River Blues Festival. We had a great time at this event last year held in the downtown historic area of Palatka. We really enjoyed Billy Ennis from Downtown Blues Club and the wonderful music in his club, and on the outdoor stages. Vendors lined the street and made a carnival atmosphere for the 3 day event. Historic Palatka is known as the City of Murals with over 20 murals depicting Putnam. They have some beautiful old homes and still have many brick roads off S. 18th St. Their Welcome Center on St. John’s Ave. has maps for the historic homes and mural locations. Nobodies’ Opinion November 2011

Nobodies Opinion Header

By Billy”Kneecap”Braddock

I love November for three reasons. One is because I get to celebrate my birthday. My friend said, “At your age birthdays should not make you happy.”I said, “Are you kidding? The more I have, the longer I live, plus I get to go to Roscoe’s Chili Challenge.” Read the rest of this entry »

Bull’s Eye November 2011

Bull's Eye header By Lulu This month we found our Bull’s Eye in Sebring at the Ride to the Heartland event. Reverend Jim, as he is known, is the owner of Preachers Cycle Promotions and the creative mind behind the 1st Church of the Apehangers which he started in 1990. He was surrounded by men equally amusing such as Aloha Terry, his Minister of Propaganda and Zane, Minister of Media. The bike shop is Preachers Hot Rod Cycle Designs. Jim Goodrich was born in Olean, New York in 1952 and stated “I was a jerk off by the age of 12”. His first bike he built at the age of 13 out of scrapped and “borrowed” parts. He rode it without brakes, stopping it by running into bushes; and that was how his love of motorcycles began. Read the rest of this entry »

Pony Tales November 2011

Pony Tales header Below is a letter written by the wife of a man severely injured in a bike v/s car accident by a young girl who tried to flee the scene. When her father arrived the wife of the injured man was unaware that prior to her arrival the father of the young girl had been ranting about bikers “thinking they owned the road” and about bikers being “nothing but druggies”. The wife came to the defense of the father unaware of what was said that enraged the other bikers at the scene. This is her letter written a bit later. The letter to the father says it all… Read the rest of this entry »

Red Knight’s 10th 9-11 Memorial Ride

By Lulu Marking the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 the Red Knight's Memorial Ride was overwhelming. There was an outpour of support from the public and it was beyond amazing. Thanks to the help of the community involved law firm of Rue & Ziffra and the organizational skills of Jessica Eckelbarger from their firm, over 6,800 bikers formed an 11 mile ribbon of bikes to ride the 67 mile tribute ride. All Roads Lead To A Run To The Heartlands

By Metric and Phoenix From Tallahassee to the Keys, from Bradenton to Ft. Pierce all roads lead to “The Run to the Heartland”. Highlands County is home to the one of the fastest growing premier motorcycling events in Florida. The Heartland Riders Association was conceived in 2003 by a group of motorcycle enthusiast that decided that Historic Downtown Sebring, Florida would be an excellent place to hold a family friendly motorcycle rally and boy were they right. Tampa Bay Area 9-11 Poker Run

By Deborah Speicher On September 11, 2011 you would have thought that a major motorcycle rally was going on in the Tampa Bay area. From the early morning when we left our subdivision to the time we got home later in the day, the roads were literally packed with bikes. There were a couple of different local 9/11 events and we participated in the 10th Anniversary Poker Run sponsored by the Tampa, Brandon and New Port Richey Harley-Davidson stores. Sturgis 2011

By Billy “Kneecap” Braddock

Whoever said, “It's the ride, not the destination” never rode 5000 miles with a “Boney Butt”. If I had not invested in an Air-Hawk seat cushion, and six bottles of Monkey Butt power, my hemorrhoids would have turned into ass-teroids, and I would have had to make most of the ride standing on my floorboards. However, Read the rest of this entry »

Nobodies’ Opinion Oct. 2011

Nobodies Opinion Header

By Billy”Kneecap”Braddock

Here we are in October waiting patiently for Biketoberfest. The anticipation of great entertainment, bike shows, bikini contests, etc., sometimes overrides our concerns for safety. We have had numerous bike wrecks this year. Most have been the fault of cages, but sometimes I wonder if some could have been avoided had the rider been more observant. The number of registered motorcycles has increased dramatically, and so has the amount of accidents. Read the rest of this entry »

Bull’s Eye October 2011

Bull's Eye header

By Lulu

Keeping in the Bull’s Eye tradition of our featured biker, this month’s Bull’s Eye lives and breathes motorcycles, but in her case she was literally born into it. Being the daughter of famous bike builder Dave Perewitz and Susan, Jody has spent her whole life in the world of motorcycles. And boy did she make her Daddy proud this year! Jody broke the women’s speed record going 200 mph at the BUB Speed Trials in Bonneville on an American V Twin. The ground up custom was built at Perewitz. She is the Danika Patrick of motorcycles: speed and beauty! Read the rest of this entry »

Stark Bike Fest 2011

BY LIL-JON

Well, Starke Bike Fest being held downtown is a great idea. But August is during hurricane season, and if it could happen…it will. We started the week prior to the event with a storm called Irene that threatened the east coast. It turned into a hurricane and was supposed to hit from Daytona to Jacksonville Friday and Saturday, but with a little luck it blew past and we just got a little rain Friday night. The Starke people said “We either are having a hurricane party or a Bike Fest, but we are having fun none the less...” Read the rest of this entry »

Iron Horse Saloon Labor Day Weekend 2011

By Amy Poole

Thanks to the World Famous Iron Horse Saloon and all their sponsors we had a rumbling’ Labor Day weekend. It was hot, dry and dusty, but it did not turn the crowds away. Saturday was the 12th Annual Rumblers Pre 64 and Kustom Show to give them a chance to show off their gems. Del, from the Car Club, put the event on bringing about 200 hot rods. Pony Tales October 2011

Another Biketoberfest is upon on us. For those of you traveling to our home ride safely. Remember that the police are pretty stringent about things such as handlebar height, loud pipes and wearing your glasses. Being pulled over for a traffic stop and ending up with a DUI can suck so watch your speed and limit your alcohol consumption. Read the rest of this entry »

White Eagle’s Night Fun Run

By Lulu

One of my favorite rides each year is White Eagle’s Night Fun Run. First off, it is free! The bars that are included put up the prize money, so other than your drinks and food for the night there is no additional money out of pocket. The ride starts and stops at the White Eagle and this year the stops included the famous Iron Horse Read the rest of this entry »
