Poker Runs…we all know what they are and have ridden on probably hundreds. No telling how much money we have pulled out of our pockets to spend our weekends riding with friends. I have seen unemployed bikers who I know needed that $10-$15 bucks, still show up to support others in need. What use to be runs for downed bikers now is often for general causes or children that are ill. Whatever the cause we saddle up and ride…in every county, every weekend bikers are riding to help. The Blue Knights Florida Chapter 22 held their 8th Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ride in April to celebrate the lives of our fallen law enforcement officers who gave their lives for the communities in which they served. According to Blue Knights Chapter 22 president, David Williams in 2011 there were 166 line of duty deaths in the United States and 12 in the state of Florida. Around Southwest Florida it's become common knowledge that the Saturday before Easter Sunday belongs to the Southwest Florida's HOG Chapters annual Easter Bunny Toy Run. On April 7th 987 riders/passengers on 750 motorcycles assembled at Harley-Davidson of Ft. The Harley-Davidson MDA Women’s Ride started back in 2008 as a gathering for women to meet up with Karen Davidson and a small group of fairly new lady riders who had won a contest. Initially, we were to meet Karen and the ladies to “escort” them to the Ocean Center on their last leg of their journey. The response from those of us wanting to join them was so great that it was turned into a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and continues to be a wonderful event every Daytona Bike Week.
